Associate Professor of Geotechnical Engineering at the Department of Civil, Chemical, Environmental and Materials Engineering (DICAM), University of Bologna. Her research focuses on: (1) the effects of subsidence on the conservation of buildings and cultural heritage sites, including case studies on monumental structures affected by differential settlements and archaeological areas located below the groundwater table, such as the Basilica of Santa Croce; (2) the mechanical characterization of soils through in-situ testing (e.g., CPT and DMT) and laboratory investigations, supporting advanced geotechnical modelling in complex stratigraphic contexts and in the presence of paleosols; (3) the stability of river embankments and internal erosion processes, with particular attention to backward erosion piping and hydraulic-risk mitigation strategies.
